Mini-wakan State Park
This is a day-use only park with no overnight camping. The historic CCC lodge is open for event rentals from May 1 through October 15. Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance through the Iowa State Parks reservation system. The park is managed by Gull Point State Park staff.
About
Mini-Wakan State Park sits on the north side of Big Spirit Lake, Iowa's largest natural lake in the Iowa Great Lakes region. The park's centerpiece is its historic Civilian Conservation Corps day-use lodge, a restored 1930s structure with panoramic lake views that can accommodate up to 120 guests for group events such as weddings, reunions, and gatherings. This is a day-use only facility with no overnight camping. The park offers a boat ramp for launching onto Big Spirit Lake and several designated areas for shoreline fishing. Bank fishing is permitted after hours in designated zones, though vessels are prohibited after 10:30 p.m. The lodge is available for seasonal rental from May 1 through October 15, with fees ranging from $100-$200 per day during peak season. Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance through the Iowa State Parks reservation system. The park has no on-site office and is managed by staff from nearby Gull Point State Park.
