About

Gull Point State Park offers a pleasing, shaded setting on West Lake Okoboji in the heart of the Iowa Great Lakes Region. Established in 1933, the park features the largest Civilian Conservation Corps lodge in the Iowa state park system, available for group events and seating up to 140 people. The campground is one of the most popular in the lakes area, with 112 well-shaded sites along paved roads. Over half the sites feature 30-amp electric hookups, and all sites are available by reservation only through the Iowa State Parks system. Modern amenities include restrooms, showers, a dump station, and playground equipment. West Lake Okoboji is renowned for fishing, with walleye, northern pike, bass, perch, bluegills, crappies, and catfish. The park features a popular swimming beach and boat access. A 1.5-mile self-guided interpretive trail on the western portion of the park offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and is open for cross-country skiing in winter. The campground operates seasonally with peak season from May through mid-October, and camping is available through October 31.
