Pickensville Campground is located just west of Pickensville, Alabama, on Aliceville Lake along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, a 234-mile man-made waterway connecting the Tennessee River to the Gulf of Mexico via the Tombigbee River. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground provides 176 shaded campsites equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, and electric/water hookups. Select sites also offer sewer connections for RV campers. Recreational opportunities abound along the waterway. A swim beach, playground, and picnic shelters occupy the adjacent day-use area. Anglers can fish from an accessible dock or launch their own boats at the on-site ramp, with bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, and sunfish commonly caught. A fish cleaning station is available. Hunters will find diverse upland game and waterfowl habitats on surrounding public lands. Nearby in Pickensville, the Tom Bevill Visitor Center interprets the history of the waterway in an 1830s antebellum-style building. The U.S. Snagboat Montgomery, a National Historic Landmark, is also open for exploration.

Directions

From Tuscaloosa, Alabama, take Highway 82 west to the junction with Highway 86. Turn left on 86 west to Pickensville. The entrance road to the campground is 2.5 miles from the yellow caution light.
