Hydrologic Outlook issued September 18 at 10:20AM MDT by NWS Riverton WY

September 18th, 10:20 AM — 12:00 PM

ESFRIW A wet weather system will support periods of showers and thunderstorms across Wyoming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This weather system is funneling abundant tropical moisture into the state. Given this anomalously high moisture, many thunderstorms will feature heavy rainfall, possibly leading to localized flooding. Poor drainage areas, urban areas, and steep terrain will be the most susceptible locations for this isolated flooding. Many locations could see rainfall totals anywhere between 0.75" to 1.75" through Sunday afternoon, with a majority of this rain falling quickly in thunderstorms. Remember, if you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around don't down!

About

Pete's Draw Campground sits along the North Platte River near Alcova in Natrona County, managed by the BLM Casper Field Office. The campground features seven overnight sites arranged separately from a day-use area, with each site equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, shelter structure, and tent pad. RV parking is available though the sites are primitive with no hookups. Facilities include a vault toilet, trash receptacles, and a hardened pedestrian trail connecting to the day-use area. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The site receives heavy visitation during spring and early summer months due to excellent fishing and boating access on the North Platte River. Camping is $10 per night with a 14-day stay limit. All sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. The day-use area is free but overnight parking there is prohibited.

Directions

From Alcova, go east 0.6 miles on Highway 220 to County Road 412 and turn right. Travel for two miles and take a right, then continue for 0.1 miles to the campground.
