Seminoe State Park South Red Hills Campground

Open — Open year-round. All campsites are reservable only through the Wyoming State Parks reservation system. Drinking water is available during summer months only.

About

South Red Hills Campground sits on the northwest shore of Seminoe Reservoir at Seminoe State Park in Carbon County, Wyoming. The campground is divided into two levels containing 21 reservable campsites total. Upper-level sites provide scenic views of the 21-mile-long reservoir and surrounding Seminoe Mountains, while lower-level sites are positioned near the boat ramp and beach area for easy water access. Each campsite includes a gravel pad suitable for RVs or tents, a picnic table, and a fire ring. Some sites have shelters for shade and weather protection. The campground has vault toilets and drinking water is available during summer months. There are no hookups or dump station at this campground, though a dump station is located at the North Red Hills Campground area of the park. Seminoe Reservoir offers excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, and water recreation. The reservoir is fed by two major tributaries, the North Platte River and Medicine Bow River. The area's name comes from French trapper Basil Cimineau Lajeunesse who worked the region in the 1800s, with the Americanized spelling eventually becoming Seminoe. The surrounding Seminoe Mountains were also a site for gold prospecting in the late 1800s.
