South Red Hills Campground occupies a scenic position on the western shore of Seminoe Reservoir within Seminoe State Park, established in 1965 through an agreement between the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the Wyoming Recreation Commission. The reservoir, formed by Seminoe Dam on the North Platte River, stretches 21 miles and receives additional flow from the Medicine Bow River, creating excellent fishing and boating opportunities in an otherwise arid high-desert landscape. The campground's 21 sites are distributed across two elevation tiers. Upper sites command expansive views of the blue-green reservoir waters backed by the rugged Seminoe Mountains, while lower sites position campers steps from the South Red Hills boat ramp and beach. Each site has a gravel pad, fire ring with grill, and picnic table. Some sites include ramada shelters for shade. Vault toilets are available year-round, and potable water spigots operate during the summer season. All sites are reservation-only from May 15 through September 15. The park dump station is located in the adjacent North Red Hills camping area at no extra charge. Boating, fishing for walleye and rainbow trout, and swimming at the beach are primary activities, though visitors should note any active water quality advisories for the reservoir.

Directions

From Sinclair, Wyoming, travel north on County Road 351 approximately 35 miles to Seminoe State Park. South Red Hills Campground is located on the western shore of the reservoir, accessible via the main park road. The route includes unpaved sections.
