About

Buffaloberry Campground is a small Bureau of Land Management facility situated along the North Platte River approximately 12 miles from Alcova, Wyoming. This intimate campground features only four overnight camping sites, each equipped with tent pads, picnic tables, and fire rings, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a quieter camping experience away from larger, more developed facilities. The campground is ADA accessible and includes a vault toilet, but campers should note that no water is available on site, so bringing an adequate supply is essential. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted. The location is particularly popular with anglers who enjoy bank fishing along the North Platte River, as well as wildlife viewers and photographers taking advantage of the riparian habitat. Access to Buffaloberry Campground requires traveling east from Alcova on Highway 220 for 7.4 miles, then turning left onto County Road 316 and continuing for 4.2 miles before reaching the campground turnoff. The campground operates seasonally and charges $10 per night for overnight camping, with day use available at no charge. The small size and riverside setting make this a hidden gem for those looking to experience Wyoming's public lands in a more intimate setting.

Directions

From Alcova, go east 7.4 miles on Highway 220 and turn left on County Road 316. Travel for 4.2 miles to the turnoff on the right and continue to the campground.
