About

Golden Currant Campground is a quiet, primitive tent camping area managed by the BLM Casper Field Office, situated along the North Platte River near Alcova, Wyoming. The campground caters to anglers and those seeking a simple outdoor experience with four designated tent sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Facilities are basic but functional: each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, and a vault toilet serves the campground. There is no potable water on-site, so campers must bring an adequate supply. A short pedestrian trail leads to the riverbank for fishing access. Day use is free, while overnight camping costs $10 per night. The campground is tent-only; RVs and trailers are not permitted for overnight use. This makes it ideal for those seeking a quieter, more rustic experience away from larger developed campgrounds in the area.

Directions

From Alcova, go east 7.4 miles on Highway 220 and turn left onto County Road 316. Travel 2.7 miles on County Road 316 to the turnoff on the right, then right to the campground.
