* WHAT...Snow, wind, and cold expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches, with localized amounts up to 6 inches possible. Winds gusting between 45 and 55 mph. Expect temperatures below 28 degrees Friday morning. * WHERE...Natrona County Lower Elevations. * WHEN...From 3 PM Thursday to noon MDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Plan on hazardous road conditions, including along US 20/26 from the Fremont/Natrona County line and east. Gusty winds and snow will cause limited visibility. Vulnerable outdoor equipment and vegetation could be impacted by freezing temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow squalls are possible Thursday afternoon and evening. If a snow squall does occur, expect instances of very low visibilities. Temperatures will drop below 28 degrees by Friday morning.

Golden Currant Campground is a modest Bureau of Land Management facility situated along the scenic North Platte River near Alcova, Wyoming. This tent-only campground offers four overnight campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis, making it an ideal destination for anglers and campers seeking a quiet riverside experience. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site. A short pedestrian trail offers easy access to the river for bank fishing, and the parking area accommodates day-use visitors as well. The North Platte River at this location is known for excellent fishing opportunities, and the area also serves as a launching point for exploring the surrounding high desert landscape. Campers should note that no water is available at this campground, so all drinking water must be packed in. The facility is restricted to tent camping only, with no RV or trailer hookups. At $10 per night for overnight camping and free day use, Golden Currant provides an affordable and peaceful camping experience along one of Wyoming's premier waterways.

Directions

From Alcova, go east 7.4 miles on Highway 220 and turn left onto County Road 316. Travel for 2.7 miles on County Road 316 to the turnoff on the right, then right to the campground.
