About
Nestled under the pine trees of Muddy Mountain and overlooking the valley below, Rim Campground is a small BLM facility offering 8 camping sites on public lands south of Casper. Each site includes a level tent pad, fire ring with grill attachment, and picnic table. The campground features a few pull-through sites capable of accommodating large trailers and RVs.
Two trailheads provide access to the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area, where a 2-mile accessible Interpretive Nature Trail connects Rim Campground to nearby Lodgepole Campground. The trail features 28 interpretive signs and two scenic overlooks providing views of the valley below. Additional trail systems in the area accommodate hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders.
The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Potable water is not available at Rim Campground but can be obtained at the nearby Lodgepole Campground. A double vault toilet serves all campers. The access road closes annually from late November through early June due to winter weather and unsafe road conditions.
