About
Persimmon Hill Day Use Area and Campground is a quiet, family-oriented recreation area managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the shores of Enid Lake in northeast Mississippi. The facility has been selected multiple times as one of America's Top 100 Family Campgrounds and offers both day use and overnight camping opportunities.
The day use area features a swimming beach, two boat ramps, picnic tables, grills, playgrounds, and four large group picnic shelters available for reservation. Beach and boat ramp access costs $5 per vehicle. The campground portion offers 72 campsites with modern amenities including full hookups and flush toilets. An amphitheater and interpretive trails provide additional recreation opportunities.
Enid Lake is renowned as one of America's top 10 fishing destinations, particularly famous for white crappie, bass, and catfish. The lake holds the world record for white crappie at 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and hosts annual fishing tournaments. The 16,000-acre lake and surrounding 44,000 acres of thick forests offer excellent boating, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing opportunities. Hiking trails wind along the lakeshore and through the surrounding landscape, providing scenic access to the area's natural beauty.
Directions
From Interstate 55, take exit 233 onto County Road 36 south, cross the dam. Turn onto County Road 34 and continue 1 mile, following the signs into the campground and day use area.
