About
Outlet Channel Recreation Area is located below the dam at Enid Lake in northern Mississippi and is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This day-use facility does not offer overnight camping but provides excellent amenities for daytime recreation.
The area features 27 individual picnic sites, each equipped with a grill, table, and serving area. Three large group picnic shelters with electrical hookups can be reserved. Three accessible comfort stations with flush toilets serve the area. Fishing amenities include a handicap-accessible fishing pier, bank fishing access, and two fish cleaning stations.
The picnic sites and facilities are nestled among towering native pine and oak trees. The surrounding woods provide habitat for squirrels, raccoons, chipmunks, deer, butterflies, geese, and various bird species. The area is easily accessible from Interstate 55 and is popular among fishermen, cyclists, walkers, and families wanting to enjoy outdoor recreation. Additional nearby amenities at Enid Lake include volleyball courts, softball fields, a half-mile fitness trail, playgrounds, boat ramps, and beaches.
Directions
Take exit 233 off Interstate 55 toward Enid Lake. Go east on County Road 36 for 0.6 miles. Take a slight right onto County Road 188 to arrive at the destination.
