Percha Dam State Park Campground is a peaceful riverside retreat nestled under the shade of mature cottonwood and velvet ash trees along the Rio Grande in Sierra County, New Mexico. Located 16 miles south of Truth or Consequences, this year-round campground offers 30 pull-through sites designed to accommodate motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and tent campers. The majority of sites feature electric and water hookups, with one full hookup site available. Site driveways range from 40 to 95 feet, making this an exceptionally big rig friendly destination. The campground provides two comfort stations, with the station nearest site 30 offering hot showers. Each site includes a sheltered area, picnic table, and grill. Some sites feature decorative rock walls that add character to the camping experience. The park's location along the Rio Grande provides excellent fishing opportunities within walking distance, and the area is renowned as one of the best bird watching spots on the Rio Grande. Nearby recreational options include rafting, kayaking, biking, and hiking trails. Caballo Lake, just 5 miles away, offers additional boating opportunities. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance through New Mexico State Parks' online system. The campground is a popular base for exploring southern New Mexico attractions including Elephant Butte Lake, the chile farms of Hatch, Gila National Forest, Gila Cliff Dwellings, and White Sands National Park.

Directions

Take exit 59 off Interstate 25 onto Highway 187, head south on NM-187, turn left on East Grand Percha Road by the ballpark, and follow the paved road approximately 2 miles into the park.
