Open — Open year-round with reservations available up to 6 months in advance through the New Mexico State Parks system. Park gates close at sundown except during special evening programs.

About

Located along the Rio Grande just 15 miles north of Las Cruces, Leasburg Dam State Park provides a tranquil desert camping experience with convenient access to urban amenities. The campground features 24 reservable sites divided into three loops: the Cactus Patch Electric Loop with 10 sites offering electrical and water hookups for rigs up to 40 feet, the Greasewood Loop with 9 sites for rigs up to 35 feet, and the Cholla Loop with 5 sites accommodating rigs up to 40 feet. The park sits alongside the historic Rio Grande and offers fishing, canoeing, and kayaking opportunities from mid-March through mid-October when water levels permit. Year-round activities include hiking nature trails, bird watching, and exploring the park's beautiful cactus garden. The park features both flush and vault toilets, a dump station, drinking water, and a bath house. An amphitheater hosts interpretive programs, and the park's observatory opens monthly for special stargazing events. Campsites include fire rings where campfires are permitted in provided grills and stoves. Nearby attractions include Fort Selden State Monument and the city of Las Cruces, making this an ideal base camp for exploring southern New Mexico. Access is easy via I-25 Exit 19 at Radium Springs.
