About

Pelican Lake Campground is a developed BLM facility located at 4,800 feet in northeastern Utah's Uinta Basin, 25 miles southwest of Vernal on UT-88. The campground features 11 individual campsites and 2 group sites, all available first-come, first-served. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are provided, but campers must bring their own water. Pelican Lake has been nationally renowned for bluegill fishing since the 1970s and continues to offer quality bass and bluegill angling. Ice fishing is popular in winter months when conditions allow access. Birdwatching is excellent in spring when waterfowl arrive to nest and rear their young. The area is managed by the BLM Vernal Field Office. Payment is made on-site through the Recreation.gov Scan & Pay app, Iron Ranger (cash or check), or other on-site payment methods. Visitors must be physically present to claim a site and occupy it the day they pay; no advance payments are accepted. The nearby Ouray National Wildlife Refuge offers additional wildlife viewing opportunities along the Green River.
