About
Peavine Creek Campground is a primitive, no-fee camping area situated along Peavine Creek in Peavine Canyon on the southeastern side of the Toiyabe Mountain Range. The campground sits at 6,260 feet elevation within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and is popular with hikers, horseback riders, and hunters. Campsites are shaded by cottonwoods and aspens, with Peavine Creek flowing year-round through the area. The campground serves as a gateway to the Arc Dome Wilderness, with nearby Peavine and Toms Canyon Trailheads providing access to backcountry trails including the Toiyabe Crest National Recreation Trail. The remote location offers solitude and classic Western scenery. A small store is located in Hadley, 11 miles north of the campground. Access requires driving approximately 9 miles west from State Route 376 on unpaved forest roads. This is a primitive campground with vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own water supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Dogs must be kept on leash, and weed-free certified hay is required for horses.
