About

Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park Campground sits at 7,000 feet elevation on the western slope of the Shoshone Mountains in central Nevada. The campground features 14 well-spaced sites, some accommodating RVs up to 25 feet, surrounded by big sagebrush, pinyon pine, and Utah juniper. Each site includes a fire ring, BBQ grill, and covered picnic table. The campground serves as a base for exploring the preserved 1890s mining ghost town of Berlin and the park's Fossil House, which protects North America's most abundant concentration of ichthyosaur fossils from 225 million years ago. A nature trail connects the campground to the Fossil House. The park encompasses 1,540 acres with elevations ranging from 6,840 to 7,880 feet. Wildlife includes mule deer, jackrabbits, western bluebirds, and various lizard species. The remote location offers excellent stargazing opportunities. Services are available in the nearby town of Gabbs, while the ghost town of Ione has no services.

Directions
