About

Kingston Campground sits at 7,100 feet elevation along Kingston Creek in the Toiyabe Range, offering a remote high-desert camping experience in central Nevada. The campground serves as the northernmost entry point to the Toiyabe Crest National Recreation Trail and provides easy access to Groves Lake, a small county-owned lake popular for fishing. This primitive campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings with grates at each site. Potable water is not available, so campers must bring their own supply. A stock loading ramp accommodates horses and pack animals for backcountry trips. Dogs are allowed but must remain on leash, and certified weed-free hay is required for stock animals. The surrounding area offers diverse recreation including lake and stream fishing, mountain and road biking, backpacking, day hiking, non-motorized boating, and OHV road riding. The remote canyon setting along the eastern slopes of the Toiyabe Range provides a quiet escape from more crowded campgrounds.

Directions

From Austin, follow US 50 East to State Route 376 South for 16 miles to the turnoff-campground sign. The campground is five miles west of the State Route 376 turnoff.
