Park Creek Campground

Park Creek Campground sits in a scenic stretch of the Rio Grande National Forest where mature spruce and cottonwood trees line the South Fork of the Rio Grande River. The heavy understory creates a feeling of spacious seclusion despite proximity to US Highway 160. Many of the 13 gravel sites are positioned directly along the river, providing easy access to fishing in both the South Fork and nearby Park Creek. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Each site features a picnic table and steel fire ring, though firewood is not provided. Two vault toilets and a centralized refuse bin serve the campground, along with hand-pump drinking water available during the operating season. Maximum spur length is 35 feet. This is bear country, so proper food storage is required. A Colorado fishing license is needed to fish the river. The campground makes an ideal base for exploring Wolf Creek Pass, located just 9.5 miles to the west.

Directions

From South Fork, CO, at the intersection of State Highway 149 and US Highway 160, take US 160 west 7.8 miles to the Park Creek Campground sign. Turn left at the sign into the campground.
