About
Park Creek Campground is a small, intimate campground stretching along the banks of the South Fork of the Rio Grande River among mature spruce and cottonwood trees in the Rio Grande National Forest. Despite being close to US Highway 160, which brings some traffic noise day and night, the heavy understory gives the campground a feeling of spacious seclusion and keeps sites cool and shady throughout the day. The campground features 13 gravel sites with picnic tables and steel fire rings, though firewood is not provided. Two vault toilets serve the campground, and a developed drinking water system with hand pumps is operational during the season. A centralized refuse bin is provided, with trash service available from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The campground offers adequate turnaround and parking space for trailers, with some sites wider than others to accommodate larger RVs up to 35 feet. Maximum spur length is 35 feet, though not all sites can fit vehicles of this length. The location provides excellent access to fishing in both the South Fork of the Rio Grande and Park Creek. Wolf Creek Pass is just 9.5 miles west, making this an ideal overnight stopover for travelers on US Highway 160. This is bear country, so campers must practice safe food storage techniques. All sites are first-come, first-served and cannot be reserved. A 14-day camping limit applies.

From South Fork, CO: Take US 160 west toward Pagosa Springs 7.8 miles to Park Creek campground sign. Turn left at sign into campground.
