About

Cross Creek Campground is a small, rustic campground located in the Beaver Creek drainage southwest of South Fork, Colorado, within the Rio Grande National Forest. The campground features 8 sites positioned on both sides of Cross Creek just above the Beaver Reservoir inlet at 8,800 feet elevation. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground offers excellent recreation opportunities including fishing in nearby Beaver Creek and the 300-acre Beaver Reservoir (located 1/4 mile north), which allows motorized boats with no-wake restrictions. ATV enthusiasts can access Cross Creek Trail, though use is limited to machines 50 inches wide or less with valid OHV Registration. Just south of the campground on Road 360, Trail 864 leads to the biggest Douglas fir tree in the Rio Grande National Forest. A concessionaire operates the campground from Memorial Day to Labor Day, providing trash service and maintaining the vault toilet. During the off-season, the campground remains open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis at reduced fees, though visitors must pack out all trash and the site may be inaccessible due to snow. Parking space for trailers is limited, with maximum spur lengths of 25 feet. The campground has ample parking for cars but limited turnaround space for larger rigs.
