About
Upper Beaver Creek Campground sits at 8,500 feet elevation in the Rio Grande National Forest, arranged in two sections under mature ponderosa pines. The 14 sites accommodate tents and RVs up to 35 feet, though parking on several sites is side-by-side with limited privacy between neighbors. Vault toilets and drinking water from a hand pump are available during the main season. The campground's primary draw is Beaver Creek Reservoir, located nearby with a concrete boat ramp and excellent fishing opportunities for brown, brook, and rainbow trout as well as kokanee salmon. The reservoir allows boats but enforces a no-wake policy with trolling motors permitted. A valid Colorado fishing license is required. All sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day camping limit. The area is bear country, requiring proper food storage. Four sites remain technically accessible year-round outside the locked gate, though snow and spring road closures may limit access during the shoulder season.
