About
Lower Beaver Creek Campground sits at 8,400 feet elevation in the Rio Grande National Forest, just 4.5 miles from South Fork via Forest Road 360. The campground offers 18 sites arranged in two loops, with 15 dead-end spurs and 3 pull-through sites accommodating trailers up to 45 feet. Each site includes a table and fire ring, with vault toilets and centralized trash service available during peak season. The nearby Beaver Creek Reservoir features a concrete boat ramp and excellent fishing opportunities for brown, brook, and rainbow trout, plus kokanee salmon. Only non-wake boating is permitted, though trolling motors are allowed. Tewksberry Trail #842, located just west of the campground, offers hiking, mountain biking, and ATV riding through the ponderosa pine forest transitioning into spruce-fir zones. The full campground operates from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend with water, trash service, and a camp host. During the off-season, 5 sites remain open year-round (weather and road conditions permitting) with reduced fees, no water, and pack-out trash requirements. This is bear country, so proper food storage is essential.
Directions
From South Fork, travel one mile south on U.S. Highway 160 toward Pagosa Springs to Forest Road 360. Take FR 360 south for 4.5 miles to the campground entrance.
