About
Lower Beaver Creek Campground is a well-maintained Forest Service campground tucked into the mountains of Rio Grande National Forest at 8,400 feet elevation. Located 4.5 miles south of US Highway 160 via Forest Road 360, the campground provides easy access to Beaver Creek Reservoir and the surrounding high-country recreation opportunities. The 18 sites include 15 dead-end spurs and 3 pull-through spurs, with a maximum spur length of 45 feet. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets centrally located and a refuse bin for trash disposal. Potable water is available via hand pumps during the summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day). During off-season, water and trash services are not available, though 5 sites remain open year-round weather permitting. The area offers outstanding fishing opportunities at Beaver Creek and Beaver Creek Reservoir, which has a concrete boat ramp (trolling motors only, no wake). The reservoir holds brown, brook, and rainbow trout as well as Kokanee salmon. Tewksberry Trail #842 provides access for hiking, mountain biking, and ATV riding just west of the campground.
