About
Highway Springs Campground is conveniently located just 4.1 miles west of South Fork, Colorado, directly along US Highway 160. The campground consists of two distinct loops offering different camping experiences. The lower loop features Aspen and a few Ponderosa pines and includes all the tent sites, while the upper loop circles a knoll above the highway with shade provided by mature Ponderosa pines and excellent views of the surrounding mountains. The campground includes 13 sites total, with 3 pull-through sites suitable for RVs. All sites come equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. Two vault toilets serve the campground, and there is adequate turnaround and parking space for larger RVs. Campers should note that no drinking water or firewood is provided on-site. The South Fork of the Rio Grande River flows just south of the campground down in the valley, providing excellent fishing opportunities for those with a valid Colorado fishing license. The campground's location along Highway 160 makes it a convenient base for exploring the Rio Grande National Forest and the surrounding San Juan Mountains.
Directions
From South Fork, Colorado, take US Highway 160 southwest for 4.1 miles toward Pagosa Springs and Wolf Creek Pass. Look for a large brown and cream colored campground sign and turn left (south) into the campground entrance.
