About

Paiute Campground is located 29 miles north of Loa, Utah, on Highway 25 adjacent to Johnson Valley Reservoir at 8,800 feet elevation in Fishlake National Forest. The campground features 48 pull-through sites spread across an open sagebrush landscape with no tree cover, offering expansive views of the surrounding high-mountain terrain. Each site includes a picnic table, and paved roads and parking spurs make access straightforward for RVs and trailers. Two vault toilets serve the campground, and potable water is available from May through September. During shoulder seasons, campers must bring their own water. This is a pack-it-out facility with no trash service. Quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and pets must remain leashed at all times. Johnson Valley Reservoir offers fishing and boating nearby, while Fish Lake, Utah's largest natural mountain lake at 2,500 acres, is renowned for trophy Mackinaw lake trout reaching 20-40 pounds. Hikers can access the non-motorized trail to Tasha Creek directly from the campground, or drive to nearby trailheads for Pelican Canyon Trail and the Lakeshore National Recreation Trail.
