About

Bowery Creek Campground is located next to Fish Lake in the Fishlake National Forest of central Utah at 9,000 feet elevation. The campground sits on a sagebrush-covered hillside forested with aspen and cottonwood trees, offering sweeping views of the lake below. Sites include single-family campsites as well as six group sites that can accommodate 20 to 30 people each, with most sites featuring lake views. Fish Lake is Utah's largest natural mountain lake, covering 2,500 acres and famous for its 20 to 40 pound Mackinaw lake trout. Anglers also catch rainbow trout, splake, perch, and Kokanee salmon. The lake is popular for boating, canoeing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. Three nearby resorts offer camping supplies, cabin and boat rentals, and other services. The five-mile Pelican Canyon Trail begins in the campground and climbs through meadows and dense forests of spruce, pine, and aspen to the 11,633-foot Fish Lake Hightop. The popular Lakeshore National Recreation Trail extends around the eastern side of the lake, rewarding hikers with stunning views after an elevation gain of 900 feet. This high-elevation facility is adjacent to the Fishlake Scenic Byway.
