About

Frying Pan Campground is located along the Fishlake Scenic Byway in central Utah, approximately 47 miles east of Richfield and 3 miles north of Fish Lake. At 9,000 feet elevation, the campground sits on a sagebrush-covered hillside with aspen trees providing limited shade and views of the north end of Fish Lake Basin. The campground has 11 sites total: 10 single-family sites and one group site that accommodates up to 100 people and 30 vehicles. Six sites (5 single and the group site) are reservable through Recreation.gov, while 5 sites remain first-come-first-served. All roads and parking spurs are paved. Amenities include flush and vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, picnic tables, and fire rings. Fish Lake is Utah's largest natural mountain lake at 2,500 acres and is famous for trophy Mackinaw lake trout weighing 20-40 pounds. Rainbow trout and splake fishing, boating, canoeing, swimming, and scuba diving are popular activities. The Lakeshore National Recreation Trail provides scenic hiking along the eastern shore, and the 5-mile Pelican Canyon Trail nearby leads to the 11,633-foot Fish Lake Hightop.
