About

Paintsville Lake State Park Campground sits along the shores of the 1,139-acre Paintsville Lake in Johnson County, eastern Kentucky. The campground operates year-round with 32 developed sites offering full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. Sites accommodate RVs up to 48 feet in length with both back-in and pull-through options available. An additional 10 primitive walk-in tent sites provide a more rustic camping experience. The campground features modern amenities including bathhouses with hot showers, laundry facilities, fire rings, and a playground. Two of the developed sites are adapted for disabled campers. The park offers excellent lake recreation with a marina, ADA-accessible boat launch, and opportunities for fishing, boating, kayaking, jet skiing, and water skiing. Bass fishing tournaments run throughout the year and the lake is regularly stocked with trout. Peak season runs from April 1 through October 31 with a 2-night minimum stay required on Friday and Saturday nights. Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance through the Kentucky State Parks reservation system. Pets are allowed on leash at most campsites.
