About

Paintsville Lake State Park sits on 1,140 acres in eastern Kentucky's Johnson County, offering camping, boating, and fishing opportunities along Paintsville Lake. The campground features 32 developed sites with full hookups (electric, water, and sewer) that can accommodate RVs up to 48 feet in length, with some pull-through sites available. An additional 10 primitive walk-in tent sites provide a more rustic camping experience. The park includes restrooms with hot showers, laundry facilities, and two ADA-accessible sites. Beyond camping, the park offers extensive recreational opportunities including a full-service marina, four-lane boat launch ramp, and excellent fishing for bass and stocked trout. The Kiwanis Trail, a National Recreation Trail, provides scenic hiking opportunities. The park also features the Mountain Homeplace, a living history museum replicating an 1850-1900 eastern Kentucky farming community. Located just five miles from Paintsville off Kentucky Route 2275, the park is situated 30 minutes from the Loretta Lynn Homeplace and near the Country Music Highway Museum, making it a convenient base for exploring eastern Kentucky's cultural attractions.
