About

Ozette Campground provides a base for exploring one of the most remote and rewarding corners of Olympic National Park. Located adjacent to Lake Ozette, the campground offers easy access to the Ozette Loop, a 9-mile coastal route featuring boardwalk trails through old-growth forest and dramatic Pacific shoreline where visitors may spot seals and migrating gray whales. Lake Ozette itself is Washington's third-largest natural lake and popular for kayaking and canoeing, with the best conditions from July through October. The campground has 15 sites with views of the lake and operates year-round, though winter visitors should expect primitive conditions and possible site flooding. Vault toilets are available year-round with seasonal flush toilets. Sites have fire grates for campfires, and visitors may collect dead and down wood within 100 feet of the campground. The nearest services are in Clallam Bay and Sekiu, about 20 miles east. Ozette is one of the park's most remote areas, with most other park destinations at least an hour away. Wilderness permits and bear canisters are not available at the Ozette Ranger Station, so backcountry campers must plan accordingly. Visitors hiking the coast should always check tide conditions before setting out, as high tides can trap hikers in certain sections.
