Outlet Park provides a scenic base below the Pomme de Terre Dam, where the river emerges into the rugged Ozark hills of west-central Missouri. The Corps of Engineers campground features 18 standard electric sites and one non-electric site, all with water hookups and 50-amp electric service. A large group site with 15 electrical connections can accommodate up to 100 people and 26 vehicles, making it popular for family reunions and scout troops. The campground is well-equipped with hot showers, flush toilets, and a dump station. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table on a gravel pad. A boat ramp provides direct access to the Pomme de Terre River, excellent for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing for crappie, largemouth bass, and the occasional muskie. Above the dam lies Pomme de Terre Lake, nicknamed the Gem of the Ozarks for its 7,790-acre surface and 113 miles of shoreline. Beyond camping, Outlet Park offers a multipurpose court, softball/baseball field, horseshoe pits, and multiple playgrounds. The 3-mile Healthy Active Community Running River Trail starts at the park, providing a paved path along the river corridor. The nearby town of Wheatland hosts one of the country's premier dirt tracks for racing enthusiasts.

Directions

From Springfield, MO, take US Highway 65 North to Preston, then Highway 54 west to Hermitage. Go south from Hermitage on Highway 254/64 for approximately 4 miles to Carson Corner. Turn west on 254 toward Pomme de Terre Dam and continue across the dam. At the far end of the dam, turn north on the paved road and follow it to the park below the dam.
