About

Damsite Campground is located at the confluence of Lindley Creek and the Pomme de Terre River on Pomme de Terre Lake, positioned just above the dam. The lake sits in the rolling Ozark hills with 7,790 acres of surface area and 113 miles of shoreline. The lake's name, French for "apple of the earth," likely originated from early French trappers who discovered potato-like plants along the riverbanks. The campground offers 80 sites with electric and water hookups, plus 7 non-electric sites. Amenities include two shower houses, a dump station, horseshoe pits, and a playground. Sites are spread across the DAMS and EAST loops. Pomme de Terre Lake boasts one of the best catch ratios in the country. Each fall the lake is stocked with muskie, and crappie, largemouth bass, and white bass are abundant. Swimming and boating are popular activities. Every Fourth of July weekend, a fireworks display takes place over the dam. Nearby attractions include dirt track racing, golf, and multiple hiking trails.
