Hermitage Campground

Open — Open year-round with reservations available up to 12 months in advance. During off-season (November through March), the dump station, showerhouse, and water are turned off, though a frost-free spigot is available. Camping is limited to 15 days within any 30-consecutive-day period.

Hermitage Campground is part of Pomme de Terre State Park, situated on the scenic shores of 7,800-acre Pomme de Terre Lake in Hickory County, Missouri. The campground offers a variety of sites including basic, electric, and electric/water hookups, with some family sites available for those needing extra space. The Hermitage area features a large public swimming beach, picnic areas, and hiking trails, providing plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities. Campers can enjoy excellent fishing for bass, walleye, catfish, crappie, and muskie from the lake, or simply relax by the water. A park store on-site sells camping supplies and essentials. The campground is fully reservable up to 12 months in advance through Missouri State Parks' reservation system, though walk-up registration may be available for unreserved sites. The facility includes modern amenities during the main season, making it a comfortable base for exploring the natural beauty of western Missouri.

Directions

From Springfield, MO, take US Highway 65 North to Preston, then Highway 54 west to Hermitage. Go south from Hermitage on Highway 254/64 for approximately 4 miles to Carson Corner. Turn west on 254 toward Pomme de Terre Dam and continue across the dam. At the far end of the dam, turn north on the paved road and follow it to the park below the dam.
