Outflow Recreation Area sits in the forested valley below Tionesta Dam, where Tionesta Creek winds through the rugged hills of northwestern Pennsylvania. The campground serves as a base for exploring half of Forest County's preserved public lands, including the adjacent Allegheny National Forest, Cook Forest State Park, and state game lands known for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and osprey. The 25 individual campsites include tent-only sites, standard nonelectric sites, and electric sites with 20/30/50 amp service and water hookups. Several pull-through sites accommodate large RVs up to 82-99 feet. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring. A group shelter with electric service is also available. Full amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station operate from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The area offers excellent fishing in Tionesta Creek, hunting in season, and scenic drives along Tionesta Creek Road upstream of the dam.

Directions

From Pittsburgh take I-79 North. Merge onto I-80 East exit 116a toward Clarion for 9.8 miles. Take the PA-8 exit 29 toward Barkeyville. Turn left onto PA-8/State Route 8 for 16.4 miles. Turn right on US-62 and follow for 34 miles. Turn right onto 36 South into Tionesta. Turn right at the stop sign and continue 36 South for 2.0 miles, then South Elm Street 1.5 miles into the Outflow Recreation Area. From Warren travel US-62 South for 30 miles, take left onto South Elm Street 1.5 miles into the recreation area.
