About
Oso Group Campground is nestled in the beautiful Barton Flats area of the San Bernardino Mountains, surrounded by picturesque pine trees and miles of scenic landscape. The campground offers one large group site that can accommodate up to 100 people and approximately 20 vehicles, making it ideal for large group gatherings. Located at an elevation of about 6,400 feet in a dense pine forest, the site features multiple tables, a campfire circle, grills, and shaded tent pads, though group areas are primarily open. Roads and parking areas are gravel and dirt, with no utility hookups available. The campground provides excellent access to outdoor recreation, including the famed Santa Ana River Trail and the Rio Monte Trail, which leads to Rio Monte Panorama overlooking the deep gorge of the Santa Ana River Valley. These trails are popular for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Nearby Jenks Lake offers fishing for stocked rainbow trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, and catfish, as well as non-motorized boating with rowboats, canoes, and kayaks. The Grayback Amphitheater on State Route 38 provides evening educational programs on most summer weekends. Bears frequent the area, so visitors must carefully follow food storage and garbage disposal regulations. The campground shares its entrance with neighboring Lobo Group Campground and is located approximately 22 miles east of Redlands along State Highway 38.
