About

Oso Group Campground is a reservable group site nestled in a dense pine forest within the Barton Flats Recreation Area of San Bernardino National Forest. Situated at an elevation of 6,600 feet along scenic Highway 38, this campground offers a peaceful mountain retreat approximately 22 miles from the Mill Creek Work Station. The single large group site can accommodate up to 100 people and 20 vehicles, making it ideal for family reunions, scout troops, and organized group outings. The campground features potable drinking water, flush toilets, multiple picnic tables, and a central group fire ring with grills. The site includes shaded tent pads and primarily open group areas. Bears frequent this area, so proper food storage is essential. Firewood must be purchased locally to prevent the spread of invasive pests. Recreation opportunities abound with access to hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails including the Santa Ana River Trail. Jenks Lake nearby offers fishing and non-motorized boating. The campground operates seasonally from mid-April through late September, with a minimum 2-day stay required on weekends and 3-day minimum on holiday weekends.
