About

Opossum Creek Recreation Area occupies a quiet, shaded location on the western shore of Lake Shelbyville, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Most of the approximately 81 campsites feature 50-amp electric hookups and water connections, accommodating both RVs and tents. Each site includes a picnic table and grill. The campground provides modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. Lake Shelbyville offers diverse fishing opportunities for catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, muskie, walleye, white bass, and bluegill. The campground features a three-lane boat ramp with a fish cleaning station and life jacket loaner stations. A dedicated fishing pond for children 12 and under includes an accessible fishing dock. Oak and hickory trees provide ample shade throughout the campground. The surrounding landscape offers excellent wildlife viewing, with songbirds, shorebirds, waterfowl, and mammals including white-tail deer. Wolf Creek State Park and Okaw Bluff Wetlands Complex are nearby for additional outdoor recreation.
