About
Davis Flat Campground is a large, established campground in the Mendocino National Forest's Grindstone Ranger District, located 9.5 miles west of Stonyford on Road 18N03. Situated at a lower elevation nestled among mountains, the campground features scenery with conifer trees surrounded by chaparral plants and shrubs. With 20 individual sites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, the campground can accommodate large trailers up to 50 feet, making it ideal for OHV enthusiasts who haul their equipment. The campground is particularly popular with off-highway vehicle riders, hunters, and hikers. It sits adjacent to the Nail Track OHV Area and provides direct access to the extensive Stonyford OHV trail system. The area offers over 200 miles of challenging OHV routes, and the campground is near the eastern terminus of the 40-mile Mendocino OHV Corridor that crosses the southern end of the forest. The Bathhouse Trailhead, a four-mile trail connecting to Deafy Glade and Snow Mountain Wilderness, is also nearby for those seeking hiking opportunities. Davis Flat operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Payment can be made on-site using cash, check, or the Recreation.gov Scan & Pay feature via mobile app. The campground charges $5 per night per site plus a $5 vehicle entry fee.
