About

Ogechie Campground is the more rustic of two drive-in campgrounds at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park, a 10,000-acre preserve designated as a National Historic Landmark. Located directly on Ogechie Lake, this smaller campground offers approximately 26 non-electric campsites in a wooded setting with scenic water views. The park preserves 9,000 years of human history and archaeological significance, with interpretive trails and programs highlighting Dakota heritage and the Petaga people who once inhabited this region. The campground provides a quieter, more rustic camping experience compared to the park's Petaga Campground. Campers have access to the park's extensive trail system, which is popular for hiking and cross-country skiing, as well as water activities on Ogechie Lake, Shakopee Lake, and the historic Rum River. The park's Interpretive Center offers educational programs and historical exhibits. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill.

Directions

From Onamia, MN, take US-169 N for approximately 8 miles. Turn left onto Kathio State Park Road and continue for about 2 miles to reach the park entrance. Follow signs within the park to Ogechie Campground.
