Father Hennepin State Park Campground

Father Hennepin State Park sits on the southeast shore of Mille Lacs Lake, one of Minnesota's largest and most popular fishing lakes. The park offers 103 drive-in campsites divided between two campgrounds, each with its own character. Lakeview Campground's 62 sites include 41 with electric hookups, and seven of these rank among the most sought-after in the park thanks to lake views and easy access to the boat ramp. Two docks provide overnight mooring for campers' boats, and a fish cleaning house serves anglers returning from the lake. Maple Grove Campground offers 42 non-electric sites with longer parking spurs designed to accommodate motorhomes and RV trailers. This campground provides a more secluded atmosphere for those comfortable running on battery power. Both campgrounds feature modern restroom buildings with flush toilets and showers. Six rustic group camp sites are also available for larger parties. Beyond camping, the park features one of the few public sandy beaches on Mille Lacs Lake with a picnic shelter, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, and playground equipment. The park's 4.5 miles of hiking trails connect to the Soo Line State Trail just four blocks away. Accessible fishing piers along paved paths serve anglers with mobility needs, and ADA-accessible campsites are available.

Directions

From Isle, Minnesota, take US-169 north for approximately 1 mile. The park entrance is on the west side of the highway on the southeast shore of Mille Lacs Lake.
