Father Hennepin State Park Track Chair

Closed — Campgrounds are closed for the season. The park typically reopens for camping in spring.

About

Located on the southeast corner of Mille Lacs Lake in central Minnesota, Father Hennepin State Park offers a Track Chair accessible campsite as part of its commitment to inclusive outdoor recreation. The 320-acre park provides visitors with mobility needs full access to lakeside camping, swimming beaches, fishing piers, and scenic trails through hardwood forests and along the rocky shoreline. The park features two main campground areas, Lakeview and Maple Grove, with accessible facilities throughout. The Track Chair accessible site includes proximity to paved pathways, wheelchair-accessible fishing piers, and modern restroom facilities with flush toilets and hot showers. Campers can enjoy the park's panoramic views of Mille Lacs Lake, boat launches, and a sandy beach stretching over a mile long. The park is named after Father Louis Hennepin, a Franciscan priest who visited the area with a French expedition in 1680. Wildlife viewing opportunities include hawks, ospreys, owls, eagles, and the park's unique population of albino whitetail deer.
