About

The Camper Cabins at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park provide a rustic lodging option within the 10,500-acre park in central Minnesota. Five one-room cabins are situated in the Petaga Campground along the Rum River, offering year-round access with heat and electricity. Each cabin features wooden bunkbeds with mattresses, an interior table with benches, and most include a screened porch. Outside, each cabin has its own picnic table and fire ring for outdoor cooking. Cabins do not have indoor plumbing, but the nearby shower building provides seasonal restroom and shower facilities, while primitive toilets remain accessible year-round. No cooking is permitted inside except for crockpots and coffeepots. Pets are not allowed in the camper cabins. The cabins accommodate up to six people, with one ADA-accessible cabin available that holds five. The park itself holds National Historic Landmark status due to its archaeological significance and features 35 miles of hiking trails, a 100-foot observation tower, the Kathio Interpretive Center, and access to the Rum River for paddling. Winter visitors can enjoy 20 miles of cross-country ski trails and snowshoe routes.
