Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area Group Campground is located within Portsmouth Campground, a camping facility situated on the northwest shore of Portsmouth Mine Lake in the heart of Minnesota's renowned Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trail system. This former iron mining region has been transformed into a world-class outdoor recreation destination featuring 70 miles of singletrack mountain bike trails, 16 pristine mine lakes, and 25 miles of natural shoreline. The group campsite is the only group camping option available at the recreation area and requires advance reservations. Portsmouth Campground provides ride-in, ride-out access to the trail system, making it a favorite among mountain bikers. The campground features a mix of shaded and open, grassy sites. The group camp is located a short distance from restroom and shower facilities. The recreation area's reclaimed mining landscape offers unique red rock vistas and deep, clear mine lakes that attract paddlers, anglers, and SCUBA divers. Mahnomen Mine Lake reaches depths of 525 feet, making it one of the deepest mine lakes in the area.

From Crosby, MN, head east on MN-210 for approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto Co Rd 30 and continue for about 1.5 miles to reach the campground entrance.
