About

Mountain Lake Campground occupies a forested peninsula on the shores of Mountain Lake, the largest lake in Moran State Park. At over 900 feet elevation on the slopes of Mount Constitution, this campground offers a more rustic woodland experience than the park's lower-elevation options. Each site includes a fire pit and charcoal grill, with cook fires permitted year-round. A boat launch adjacent to the campground provides access for rowboats, kayaks, and canoes; electric motors are allowed, but internal combustion engines are prohibited. The campground serves as an ideal basecamp for hikers and mountain bikers tackling the park's trail network. The approximately 4-mile Mountain Lake Loop trail departs directly from camp, offering varied terrain from swampland to elevated switchbacks with lake views. Two small islets in the lake are accessible by boat for swimming or picnicking. The route to Mount Constitution's summit begins nearby, though large RVs and trailers face access restrictions on the upper portion of Mount Constitution Road. Moran State Park spans 5,424 acres on Orcas Island in Washington's San Juan Islands. The park features one dump station shared among all campgrounds. Reservations are available through Washington State Parks online or by calling (888) CAMPOUT.
