About
Moran Cascade Lake Campground is part of the larger Moran State Park camping system on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. The park encompasses over 5,200 acres with three distinct campgrounds positioned at the northern, midway, and southern sections of Cascade Lake, plus a fourth campground at Mountain Lake. Together these offer 124 standard campsites and 6 hiker/biker sites set among madrona trees and lakeside locations. The Cascade Lake campgrounds provide diverse camping experiences, from primitive tent sites along the lakeshore to RV-accessible spaces across from the lake. The Midway campground is particularly popular with boaters, situated adjacent to the boat ramp with convenient water access. The South End campground near the park entrance also features glamping platform tents operated by LEANTO from June through September. All sites lack electrical hookups, maintaining a more natural camping atmosphere. The park features comprehensive amenities including five restrooms, 10 showers, a dump station, and drinking water. At Cascade Lake, campers enjoy swimming areas, a boat ramp, kayak and paddleboard rentals through Orcas Adventures, and fishing for stocked rainbow trout and kokanee. The Sugar Shack concession stand offers snacks, ice cream, espresso, and camping supplies. With 38 miles of hiking trails, Mount Constitution's summit observation tower, and opportunities for mountain biking in winter months, Moran State Park provides extensive recreation opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
