Moran Adirondack Campground sits within Moran State Park, a 5,252-acre preserve on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. The campground's 10 tent-only sites are positioned in a forested setting at approximately 1,140 feet elevation, offering a more secluded camping experience compared to the larger campground areas near Cascade Lake. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The park encompasses five freshwater lakes including Cascade Lake and Mountain Lake, both popular for swimming and non-motorized boating. Over 30 miles of trails wind through old-growth forest to scenic viewpoints, with Mount Constitution's stone observation tower providing sweeping views of the San Juan Islands, Cascades, and Canadian Coast Range. The park's historic Civilian Conservation Corps structures from the 1930s add architectural interest throughout. Campers have access to restroom facilities and showers within the park, though the primitive Adirondack area may require a short walk to facilities. A dump station is located near the western park entrance. Note that Mount Constitution Road restricts large trailers and motorhomes above Mountain Lake.

Directions

From the Orcas Island ferry terminal, drive north on Orcas Road, which becomes Horseshoe Highway. Continue approximately 13 miles to the park entrance on the left. Follow park roads to the Adirondack Campground area.
