About

Larrabee State Park holds the distinction of being Washington's first state park, gifted to the state in 1915 by the Larrabee family. The campground sits in a forested setting along the scenic Chuckanut Drive between Bellingham and the Skagit Valley. The park encompasses over 2,600 acres stretching from Samish Bay's saltwater shoreline up into the Chuckanut Mountains, offering diverse terrain from tidepool-rich beaches to freshwater lakes. The campground provides 51 standard tent sites, 26 full-hookup utility sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, and 8 primitive walk-in sites. Facilities include flush restrooms, six shower stalls, a dump station, and drinking water. Two ADA-accessible campsites are available. Note that the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and Amtrak tracks bisect the park, making sites 42-49 and walk-in sites W1-W8 the noisiest locations. Beyond camping, visitors can explore miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, paddle on Fragrance Lake and Lost Lake, or investigate tidepools at Clayton Beach. The park offers both saltwater and freshwater boat launches for those bringing watercraft.

Directions

From Bellingham, drive south on Chuckanut Drive (State Route 11) for approximately 7 miles. The park entrance is on the west side of the road. From Burlington/I-5, take exit 231 and follow Chuckanut Drive north for about 14 miles.
