About
North Clear Creek Campground is completely hidden from Forest Road 510, providing a secluded camping experience in the Rio Grande National Forest. The campground features 21 sites, each equipped with a parking spur (maximum 40 feet), picnic table, and fire ring. Sites vary from sunny openings to shaded areas screened by small aspen, spruce, and fir trees. Located adjacent to North Clear Creek, the campground is popular for fishing and is situated in an excellent area for observing and photographing fall aspen colors. Wildlife viewing opportunities include the possibility of spotting moose. The campground provides potable drinking water from a well via hand pump and has 2 vault toilets. Trash service and a camp host are provided during the operating season. This is a recommended destination for campers seeking solitude and quiet camping well away from towns and busy roads. The area offers opportunities for day hiking, backpacking, and wildlife viewing. All sites are first-come, first-served with a 14-day camping limit.
Directions
From Creede, travel west on Colorado Highway 149 toward Lake City for 22.4 miles to Forest Road 510. Take FR 510 north for 2.1 miles to the campground entrance.
