About

Silver Thread Campground sits at 9,500 feet along Colorado Highway 149, the Silver Thread Scenic Byway, roughly midway between Creede and Lake City. This compact single-loop campground offers 10 sites, including several level pull-through sites with a maximum spur length of 45 feet. Some sites include sewer hookups. Aspen trees provide shade while spruce covers the surrounding hillsides. The campground's highlight is its proximity to South Clear Creek Falls, accessible via an easy 0.25-mile trail departing from the south end of the campground. Fishing opportunities exist in South Clear Creek and nearby Brown Lakes (Colorado license required). This is bear country, so proper food storage is mandatory. During peak season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), potable water is available from centrally located spigots, trash service is provided, and a camp host is on site. Off-season camping is available at reduced rates but without water or trash service. The campground operates year-round when accessible, though snow and road conditions may limit access in winter.
