About
Bristol Head Campground stretches 0.6 miles along a level bench above South Clear Creek in Colorado's Rio Grande National Forest. Every site offers views of the towering mountains dominated by Bristol Head Peak, with spruce and aspen trees lining the wildflower-dotted meadow. The campground is known for excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, especially moose, and provides a quiet, secluded experience. The 15 sites include 11 pull-throughs and 4 dead-end spurs, ranging from 35 to 55 feet in length. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Amenities include vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, and trash service during the operating season. A short trail from the campground leads to an overlook of Clear Creek Canyons and a waterfall. Fishing is available in nearby South Clear Creek with a valid Colorado license. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Check-in is after 2:00 PM and check-out before 11:00 AM. A 14-day camping limit applies. Bear-resistant food storage is required from April through December. Dogs are welcome on leashes up to 6 feet.
