Malabar Farm State Park Day Use Area

Open — Open year-round for group reservations. Advance reservations required for facility use.

About

The Pugh Cabin at Malabar Farm State Park serves as a day-use facility for groups seeking a meeting space within the beautiful Pleasant Valley countryside of Richland County. This reservable facility can accommodate up to fifty people and is available for meetings and group functions from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Malabar Farm State Park sits on nearly 1,000 acres of rolling farmland and woodlands, representing the diversity of Ohio's glaciated Appalachian Plateau region. The park was the dream of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Louis Bromfield, who created a working farm that still houses chickens, goats, and beef cattle. The grounds feature the historic 32-room Big House, scenic trails through wooded ridgetops and fertile valleys, and gardens that showcase the area's natural beauty. As a day-use facility within this historic state park, the Pugh Cabin provides groups with access to one of Ohio's most unique parks, where visitors can explore farm life, conservation history, and the natural wonders of Pleasant Valley. The park's forests feature beautiful stands of beech, maple, and eastern hemlock, while the fields support diverse wildlife including bluebirds, red-winged blackbirds, and red fox.
