About

North Abutment Campground is a modern U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the northern shore of Grenada Lake in Mississippi. The campground offers 88 spacious RV sites, each equipped with level pads, parking aprons, 50 amp electrical service, water hookups, and sewer connections at sites 2-88. All sites are reservable through Recreation.gov, making this a popular destination for RV travelers seeking reliable amenities. Grenada Lake is a 35,820-acre reservoir on the Yalobusha and Skuna Rivers with approximately 148 miles of shoreline. During the peak season from May through August, several campsites have direct water views. However, winter water levels are dropped more than 20 feet for flood control purposes, placing the main lake shoreline up to a mile from the campground. To compensate, the campground features a dedicated 17-acre lake with a swimming beach, stocked with bream, largemouth bass, and catfish for camper enjoyment year-round. The area provides excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, and water sports, with boat ramps located just outside the campground. The region offers additional recreation including an 18-hole golf course at Hugh White State Park, sports complex, baseball fields, and fitness trails. The campground includes an amphitheater in Phase 1 and is just five miles from the city of Grenada. Nearby attractions include the Haserway Wetland Demonstration Area with its 1.5-mile interpretive trail and various Civil War landmarks throughout the region.

Directions

From I-55, take the Grenada exit on Highway 8 east through the City of Grenada for approximately 3 miles, then turn left on Scenic Loop 333. Follow Scenic Loop 333 across the dam and take the second road to the right at the north end of the dam.
