About
Nelson Dewey State Park Campground sits atop dramatic bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River near Cassville in Grant County. Named for Wisconsin's first governor, the park combines natural beauty with historical significance, adjacent to the Stonefield Historic Site and Dewey's former estate. The family campground provides 45 sites spread through a wooded, secluded landscape, with 18 sites offering electric hookups for RV and trailer camping. Four walk-to sites reward the extra effort with prime Mississippi River views from the bluff's edge. Modern facilities include flush toilets and showers located near site 23. A group camp can accommodate up to 120 people across three separate sites, each with electric hookups, picnic tables, large fire rings, vault toilets, and water access. Groceries, camping supplies, and a laundromat are available two miles away in Cassville. The park offers over two miles of hiking trails across five short loops showcasing varied terrain and river valley vistas. Three picnic areas provide additional day-use options. The park is open year-round from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., though some amenities operate seasonally.
