About

Pikes Peak State Park campground occupies one of Iowa's most dramatic locations, perched 500 feet above the Mississippi River in Clayton County. The park is named for explorer Zebulon Pike who noted the bluff during his 1805 expedition. The campground offers both full hookup and standard electric sites, making it suitable for RVs and tent campers alike. Every campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground features modern restrooms with flush toilets and showers, as well as a trailer dump station. Several sites are ADA accessible, including sites 5, 26, 40 (standard electric) and site 39 (full hookup). The shower building is also accessible. Beyond camping, the park offers hiking trails leading to overlooks with sweeping views of the river valley, including the famous Point Ann overlook. The park also features Native American effigy mounds and diverse forest habitats.
