About

Located two miles south of Potosi in Grant County, Wisconsin, Grant River Recreation Area sits along the Upper Mississippi River in an area known as the Catfish Capital of Wisconsin. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates this modern campground, which features 73 campsites set among lush river landscapes with towering bluffs and beautiful sunset views. The campground offers 63 standard electric sites accommodating RVs up to 45 feet with 50/30/20 amp service, plus 10 tent-only nonelectric walk-in sites. Facilities include a shower building with flush toilets, drinking water, an RV dump station, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, and a covered picnic shelter. A boat ramp provides access to the Mississippi River, though it can be challenging for larger vessels when water levels drop and aquatic vegetation grows in. Fishing is the main draw, with channel catfish being the most popular catch alongside bluegill, walleye, crappie, northern pike, and bass. Spring offers the best fishing before the rice fields grow up. Nearby attractions include the Potosi Brewing Company Restaurant and Museum, Lock and Dam 11, and the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque.
